Murang’a County health policy has been assented opening room for
recruitment of 36 households per polling centre to be enrolled in Kang’ata Care
Programme.

Assenting  the Sh170 million programme, the governor lauded the
county assembly leadership led by Speaker Johnson Mukuha  for speedy passage of the policy for the benefit
of the residents.

 Speaking at the county
chambers, Kang’ata accompanied by his Deputy Stephen Munania and Health and Sanitation CEC Dr Fredrick Mbugua and Speaker Johnson Mukuha said
passage of the policy has also legitimized the engagement of the Community Health
Volunteers (CVH).

 In the past, engagement
of the CVH has been an issue with the office of the auditor general raising
audit queries that demanded for answers.

 “The vetting committees
were recruiting 24 households per polling centre but we have increased the number
to 36 for the interest of helping our people,” said the Governor.

The programme which has been recommended by the Office of the Controller
of Budget will enroll the persons with disabilities, orphaned children among
others, he added.

Mukuha said the policy  will guide the county government in the transformation of the health sector.

” The assembly becomes the first in the republic  to formulate a policy to guide the government in matters pertaining to health,” said the speaker.

 Assembly Health Committee
chairman John Mwangi  said they deliberated
on the policy  and which was passed by
the members for the interest of the Murang’a people.

“ We are out to support the governor to leave a mark aiming at
giving our people the best health care,” said Mwangi, Nginda MCA.
