The former Chairperson at the  Kenya Seeds Company Ms Wangui Ngirici maintained she resigned from her position, and was not sacked as alleged.

There are claims that Ngirici eying for Kirinyaga gubernatorial position was sacked by the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury John Mbadi.

According to Ms Ngirici, She had hinted that she was not willing to renew her contract when it expired, where the expiry date was supposed to be in June, 30 before Mbadi issued a sacking letter.

She said she walked out after listening to the Kirinyaga people who gave her the political direction ahead of the 2027 election campaign.

Ngirici stated that her main aim of not renewing the contract was to be “visible” at the grassroot level.

“I listened to you, my people and you told me to come to ground, let me tell you I had resigned a long time ago, I was not sacked” said Ngirici.

She also hinted that during her three years as the chairperson at the Kenya seeds, Ms. Ngirici maintains that seed production rose from 18 million kilos to70million kilos and also managed to save it from being sold.

“When I served as the chairperson at the Kenya seed, I was able to increase seed from 18 million kilos of seeds to 70 million kilos, that means Kenya has enough seeds; on top of that I saved the company (Kenya seeds) from being sold” She added.

On April 30th ,  the Cabinet secretary wrote a letter to Sammy Chepsiror the Managing Director  to Kenya Seeds Company stating that under article 102 of the articles of Association, he was supposed to proceed with immediate removal of Ms. Ngirici.

Her removal followed after she ditched resident William Ruto, having been a grassroot mobiliser and popularized UDA in Kirinyaga county.
