Reduced prices at the coffee market

 The Nairobi Coffee market faced price turbulence in the weekly auction after it netted Sh307.7 million, less than Sh 553 million of the last week. 

In the market,  19 coffee buyers bought 6,104 bags out of the 7,278 bags that had been offered during the weekly auction at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).

The report stated that 1,174 bags were withdrawn from the auction

In the auction, Kiambu based Gathiru ini factory coffee brokered by Alliance Berries Limited  achieved the highest price of Sh49,430 for each bag of grade AA. 

The NCE report indicates that Mathira based Ruthagati factory coffee brokered by Alliance Berries Limited achieved the highest price of Sh 49,703 for each of the 25 bags  of grade AA bought by C-Dormans.

Kathithiuku factory affiliated to Thuita cooperative society in Meru South achieved the second price of Sh48,799 for grade AA brokered by CEBBA.

“In the PB grade category  Kathare factory affiliated to Kiangua Society from Meru Central achieved Sh 45,830 for each of the 11 bags,” read part of the report by NCE Acting CEO Symon Mburia.

In the market the farmers offered 619 bags of grade AA,  2,065 grade AB,1,771 grade C among others

The report further reflected that seven coffee brokers participated in the auction led by  the Alliance Berries Limited that sold 1,510 bags that earned Sh 95.1 million,New KPCU 1,878 bags for Sh 79.9 million, Meru Union 964  bags.  Others were CEBBA 536 bags ,Minnesota 652 bags, Kipkelion 239 bags, Kinya 964 bags.

In the dealers category, the report reflected  C- Dormans bought 1,212 bags, Kenyacof Limited 950 bags. 

 Louis Dreyfus 800 bags, and Taylor Winch 567 bags. Sasini 529 bags among other buyers.
