Murang’a
County Government has allocated Sh1.4 million to support education of orphaned
children.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata said he has been
touched by the plight of the 145 orphaned children allocated the resources.
The Sh10,000
to each will support enrolling in form one this year.
Speaking when he disbursed the allocation in a
function attended by MCAs Charles Machigo(Township) and Mwangi Mpesa (Nginda),
Kang’ata said his administration is interested in the future of Murang’a
children.
“Next year
there will be more children in the Murang’a County Government education intervention programe,” said the
governor.
During the
function, Kang’ata disclosed that in two
week’s time Uji programme for ECDE learners
will be launched, in efforts to
provide for the little children.
“In every
school, one parent will be engaged to prepare the uji for the learners and
ensure its safety,” said the governor.
On Kang’ata Care, three families received compensation of their departed relatives each Sh100,000.
The county chief said next year, the health care programme with 21,000
households will get more allocation of
resources to recruit more people.
“ We are in
talks with the county assembly to
allocate more funds in the Kang’ata
care to reach more deserving cases,” said the governor who was accompanied by
his health executive Dr Fredrick Mbugua.
