It is a relief to hundreds of parents in Kigumo after they got Sh25 million to support the education of their 6,000 children.
The kitty launched by Kigumo MP Joseph Munyoro was released when the parents and guardians are facing challenges following the harsh conditions.
In the unique disbursement programme, 25 form one students from the extreme poverty backyard benefitted with a four-year scholarship to support their education.
Munyoro said he moved to issue the kitty focusing at the polling centres to ensure only the registered electorate benefit from the kitty.
The allocation was categorized Sh4,000 for those in day schools, Sh4,500 day and boarding and Sh5,000 for those in boarding schools.
“Am committed to serve the Kigumo people through improving education standards, focusing on those from the humble backyard, ” said Munyoro.
It was a relief to Winnie Muthoni who last year failed to join Egerton University to pursue a computer science degree due to financial constraints.
The MP said Muthoni will be supported by the constituency bursary to complete his education.
” We have another allocation set for the form one students and those in universities that will be disbursed soon,” said the MP
“ Am grateful for the support as my mother is a casual labourer in tea plantations and cannot afford to pay for my university education,” said Muthoni, a former student at Mumbi Girls.
