Kirinyaga
leaders have expressed confidence that the BBI document will be passed at the
referendum.
The
leaders who included Interior and
National Coordination Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, Governor Mumbi
Waiguru, Senator Charles Kibiru and MCAs met and declared total support to the
constitutional amendment process.
In
a meeting where Kibicho and Waiguru buried their hatchets, they said they will
conduct civic education at the grassroots to ensure the residents understand
the contents of the document.
“I
have read the document and understood it. BBI is good and we would like the
residents also to know that,” said Ms Waiguru.
The governor lauded the Kirinyaga County
Assembly Members for unanimously passing the Bill and taking Kirinyaga
interests first.
The PS said the report means well for Kenyans
and leaders should conduct aggressive civic education in their places.
“We shall peacefully educate the residents and make them
understand the document and embrace it,” Kibicho said.
On car grant, the PS the talk on the subject started in 2016 between the President and MCAs.
” The Sh2million car grant has been an Memorandum of Understanding between the county assemblies and the President,” said Kibicho.
