 The ward By-Election has gained momentum
after senior politicians have moved to weigh their might behind the candidates.

Governor Mwangi wa Iria to lead jubilee Campaigns in Gaturi

With barely five days left, senior
politicians  are trooping to the ward located in Kiharu constituency,
eying  to drum up support for Rosemary Wakuthie Njine of Jubilee Party and
Esther Mwihaki Kamau of People’s Empowerment Party (PEP), associated with
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

 Kuria has been on the ground campaigning
for Mwahaki, as Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and Senate Majority Whip are
set to launch a campaign for Wakuthie through mobilization of resources.

 It has been a race for two women as other
seven men have been thrown at the back, as they embarked on a door-to-door
campaign.

Mwihaki a youth who sits on Kiharu CDF Board
hails from Nyakihai Village, while Wakuthie a former MCA  who served
between 2013 and 2017 is a resident in Kigetu ini area in the lower part.

During the Jubilee party nomination following
the demise of Gaturi MC Cyrus Kiiru Mwangi, Wakuthie polled 1,720 votes, with
Mwihaki second with 1,041 votes.

A source divulged that the senior politicians
were ordered to support the Jubilee Candidate following report of a possible
loss in the By-Election slated for December 15.

Wakuthie had earlier served as Gaturi location
councilor between 2007 and 2013, and 2017 lost to Kiiru who was an independent
candidate.

 Iria since Wednesday mobilized his
campaign team led by Alex Gathara Mbote to move around Gaturi ward mobilizing
support for Wakuthie.

 At the back, Gatundu South
MP  who has declared war on Jubilee Party has been holding meetings with the community leaders, drumming support for Mwihaki.

“I have been in the ward in the last one month
and Jubilee Party has sensed the defeat following my efforts,” said Kuria.

 Others in the race are Muchoki Mbuthia( Maendeleo Chap Chap, Chris
Kimuhu( National Ordinary People’s Empowerment Party) Zablon Mwangi ( Narc
Kenya), Jacob Murira a former  Gaturi ward councilor( The Young Democratic
Party), Simon Njogu (United Green Movement) and Nelson Kenda (Democratic
Party).

Twenty-year-old
