Kirinyaga: Row on budget yet to be over

Leaders in Kirinyaga are
yet to agree on how finance for the year 2020/2021 will be utilised.

The leaders have been up in
arms thus delay approving Sh5.6billion budget, as the residents continue to
suffer.

 After they met in Nairobi
to broker peace and reconciliation, the MCAs are yet to give their stand on the
deliberations initiated to break peace between the county executive and the
assembly.

The assembly remained in a closed-door meeting  for better part of the day going through the
deliberation entered by the parties.

Team led by Majority Leader Kamau Murango postponed a press
conference set to inform the locals on their way forward.

“We are yet to agree and looking for a meeting with members of the
press,” said Murango.

 In Nairobi, details emerged
that the leaders agreed that Sh10million to be disbursed per ward, and another
Sh7 million  to facilitate
completion  of the stalled development
projects.

The assembly and the executive have been at war over  the alleged
misappropriation of funds.

But according to Governor Annie Waiguru appreciated the outcome of
the negotiation between the assembly and the executive.

“I would like to thank Mt Kenya Foundation chaired by Dr Peter
Munga  for steering the mediation talks
and their dedication  and commitment
in  seeing that the matter  was settled,” read part of the Governor’s
statement.
