A chief officer at Murang’a County Government has been ranked the best in a County Gala Award.
Njai Mwangi, a chief officer in charge of Technical Training was ranked the best performing in a function held in Mombasa.
The determined Njai joined the county government in 2013 and was appointed to head the technical education department where he came up with the Ufundi Kwa Vijana concept to provide the youths with skills in the polytechnics and vocational training institutes.
“ Am delighted to have been bestowed with the honours for having served Murang’a people with humility and dignity,” said Njai as he thanked Governor Mwangi wa Iria over giving him the responsibility.
Speaking to The Mountain Journal after he was honoured, Njai said in 2013 there were 37 vocational training centres, which have grown to 70 with more than 7,200 students under the NITA.
“ Another 8,589 students are acquiring knowledge through the Ufundi Kwa Vijana programme, fully funded by the county government,” said Njai.
Last year, the Murang’a Governor was named the best Governor in Mt Kenya region.

7. Kisii Deputy Governor Hon. Joash Maangi – The Most innovative Deputy Governor in Kenya.
8. Hon. Hasha Mbone Mudeizi from Vihiga – Best County Assembly Speaker in Kenya.
9. CS Hon. Amb (Dr) Amina Mohamed – Best Cabinet Secretary in Kenya.
10. Kiambu Governor Hon. James K. Nyoro – Best Governor in the Central Region.
11. Hon. William Cheptumo from Baringo North Constituency – Best MP in Baringo County.
12. Hon. Eng. Maliti Francis from Machakos – Best Deputy Governor in the Eastern region.
13. Hon. Simon Ng’ang’a from Ruiru Constituency – Best MP In Kiambu County.
14. Hon. Muhammed Ali from Nyali Constituency – Best Performing MP in Mombasa County.
15. Hon. Maurice Otieno from Awasi Onjiko Ward – Best MCA in Kisumu County.
