The Mountain Journal
Politics is taking shapes daily with allies being formed by candidates working to win the August 9 polls.
In the interesting scenario, former nominated MCA Catherine Wairimu Mugo has abandoned contesting for Murang’a Woman Representative slot and joining camp allied to Gubernational aspirant Irungu Nyakera as his running mate.
Ms Mugo a lawyer who was on UDA ticket moved to the Farmers Party wing to support the candidature of Nyakera associated with the reforms in the tea and coffee sub sectors.
“Am working with Nyakera as his running mate after for a better Murang’a in future,” said Mugo when reached by The Mountain Journal.
Mugo comes from Kandara constituency where she tried her luck in 2017 and lost to the incumbent Alice Wahome.
Between 2013 and 2017, she served as the nominated MCA, and afterwards appointed to serve in the public service board at the Murang’a County Assembly.
Her decamping leaves radio Journalist Waithira Muithirania, MCA Lucy Ngugi and Betty Maina a former director at Athi Water Works Development Agency among others contesting for the slot currently held by MP Sabina Chege.
