Unknown to many Murang’a gubernatorial candidates, Irungu Kang’ata has changed his running mate.
Kang’ata candidate abandoned Dr Winfred Mwangi who had picked as the first running mate before settling on Stephen Mburu Munania who was cleared by the IEBC at the 11th hour.
Dr Mwangi a lecturer from the university of Nairobi met roadblocks after issues regarding her resignation featured and nearly blocked the clearing of Kang’ata who pointed an accusing finger at his opponents.
Mburu 29, from Gatanga was also eying Kariara ward seat on UDA ticket where he came second during the nominations.
Investigations on Dr Mwangi revealed she had not resigned from the university but had taken four months leave.

The debate on the status of Kang’ata running mate started off after a voter raised the issue that led IEBC to conduct investigations.

“It is upon the aspirants to get to the voters instead of working for the downfall of others,” said Kang’ata.
