Coffee upgrade mission by Nyakera
Gubernatorial aspirant for Murang’a Irungu Nyakera flagged off a coffee farmers benchmarking program that will see Murang’a farmers travel to the best coffee factories in Nyeri.

At Nyeri, the farmers will learn the best practices in coffee farming and processing. This program will run for a whole week and will see over 200 farmers from across Murang’a benefiting in this program.
Nyeri farmers in the past have been getting better payment from coffee following the improved husbandly .
The Nyeri farmers are paid between Sh100 and Sh130 per kilogramme if cherry they deliver for processing at their factory.
” I have taken upon myself to ensure Murang’a will be part of the coffee production as it has been in the past,” said Nyakera a former Principal Secretary.
