IEBC has cleared Kang’ata to run for the gubernatorial slot of UDA ticket after it established that his running mate Dr Winnie Mwangi, a land economist, had resigned for the University of Nairobi as the law provided in February.

There were celebrations at the IEBC office in Murang’a as the senator and his supporters received the certificate from the commission officials after going through the forms and establishing the facts surrounding the proposed deputy governor.

Kang’ata in his acceptance speech said he was ready to face his opponents in the vote hunt saying he went for the woman deputy as she has the land management skills that are highly required in Murang’a.

“Murang’a people should know that Dr Winnie is an asset. Those who had fought my efforts through writing  to the commission should accept they have been defeated,” said Kang’ata.

Those who had intention to derail the clearance process , he said, should go for votes focusing on the ballot.
