Murang’a Appropriation Bill has been passed a day after the supplementary budget of Sh9 billion passed by the county assembly.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata assuring residents that community projects will be implemented with much emphasis on community projects.
Assenting the bill in a function witnessed by Assembly Speaker Johnson Mukuha and MCAs led by Charles Karina Machigo, Kang’ata said since he assumed office the county has been spending money using the budget that was prepared by the previous regime.
“Starting today we
shall implement programmes using the budget aligned by the assembly which are designed for the public related projects,’ said the Governor.
He observed that the agriculture subsidy programme on mangos and milk will delay awaiting formulation of a policy by the assembly to conform with the law.
“ The elected MCAs have an allocation of Sh8 million shillings each for use in the wards. There is no law that bars the leaders from accessing the allocation as there is need for collaboration,” said the governor.
In education, the governor said the best three KCPE candidates in each public school will get Sh15,000 to enable them to prepare for joining secondary schools.
In the health programme, the assembly allocated funds for the construction of Kenol Matiba Hospital at Makeji area and improvement of other major facilities.
