Bhang: Police nab key suspects

 

Two notorious traffikers believed
to  be supplying tonnes of bhang in
Murang’a have been arrested after police trailed them from their Weitethie hide
out in Thika.

 The two were nabbed by police who had been
monitoring their movement after their were identified as the major suppliers of
bhang smoked in Maragua  town area.

They fell in the police trap after
a motorcycle was identified to be their only means of transportation of drugs,
following random check of personal vehicles at the police checks.


The consignment, The Mountain
Journal learnt had been bought at Sh37,000 which was sent to a Mr Kamau through
mobile money services.

 Murang’a South Police Commander Anthony Keter
said the suspects were arrested at Karugia area along the Murang’a- Kenol road
as they were transporting a haul estimated at Sh100,000.

 The gang is reported to had evaded  being intercepted near Kenol market a week
ago after it sped off through a feeder road a two weeks ago.

Keter said the two have been  associated with supplying of bhang in Maisha
Mathi, Mathare and Maragua town, following surveillance conducted by the
police.

“ The suspects are at Saba Saba
police station where they are under going interrogation as the police are
interested to establish the source,” said Keter.

In April at in Makuyu area a
vehicle from Isiolo county was intercepted transporting bhang valued at Sh14.5
million to Nairobi.

 The consignment is believed to had been
sneaked from one of the neighbouring countries.
