Murang’a: Traditional burial for MCA

 

Burial of Gaturi MCA Kiiru Mwangi Mbembe was a unique one as he was
given Gikuyu tradition honours.

The ceremony presided over the elder from ‘mihiriga kenda muiyuru’ was
buried in his ancestral Gaitheri village, Kiharu, Murang’a county.

 The police erected road blocks
in the locality fearing those presiding the ceremony were members of the
outlawed Mungiki sect.

 Despite the site being next to Gaitheri
ACK church,  Mbembe had left a will that
his burial  to be conducted in accordance
to the Gikuyu community rite.

Church elders from the locality watched the ceremony from far as the
police intensified security.

In the ceremony attended by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader
Musalia Mudavadi, Members of Murang’a County Assembly eulogised the late Mbembe
as a leader who stood for truth.

 The MCA’s Samuel Kihurunjo(
Gitugi) Amos Murigi( Kimorori) and Mburu wa Muthoni(Kagundu ini) described the
late as a leader who helped them analysis 
Murang’a County Government budget.

  Kihurunjo said Mbembe was
voted out  the chairman of Finance
Committee, while he lost his deputy speaker slot.

“This happened to me and Mbembe due to our political stand.  My brother rest in peace we shall continue
fighting for Murang’a people on your behalf,” said Kihurunjo as he mourned him.

Mbembe vied for Kiharu parliamentary seat in 2013 and lost to Irungu
Kang’ata.

  Mudavadi eulogized the late Mbembe as a leader
who visited him three weeks ago.


“ He was a leader with focus and we had planned to visit Gaturiward once Ministry of health
gave a clearance of the trend of Covid 19.
