Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has outlined the benefits of the community projects facilitated by the NG CDF, calling on Kenya to initiate a debate to  increase allocation to the kitty.

The MP defended the existence of the NG-CDF kitty, describing it as a vital tool for sustained grassroots development, thus debate on increasing its allocation should be accelerated.

Speaking at St Mary Primary School in Murang’a town during the commissioning of the projects funded by the NG CDF, he said, debate to scrap the kitty should not be entertained, as Kenya was a developing nation, in need of development programmes in the countryside.

“NG-CDF is celebrated as it has channelled to mobilise resources to reach the grassroots,” said Ndindi.

He added that the conversation should not be focused on whether the NG CDF should exist, but how to increase it because it directly benefits communities.

In the school capitation debate, the MP asked the Ministry of education and the National Treasury  to stop taking Kenyans around, and instead remit the resources to the learning institution to sustain the free education.

He asked the policy makers to stop issuing promises  to Kenyans on the provision of free education, but instead remit the amount in full to the schools.

He proposed to increase capitation to Sh32,000 per student from the current Sh22,400, to effectively facilitate free education in secondary schools., to match with the cost of living.

The MP also suggested consolidating bursaries together will make education free at all levels.

“The schools opened for third term and the amount previously remitted was spent in clearing some of the debts incurred bv the suppliers. Please remit the balances to the schools  to perfect free education,” said the MP.

In the function, Murang’a Town MCA Charles Machigo appreciated Ndindi for his efforts to improve education through the NG CDF.

“Continue demanding the National Government from engaging in the wastage of the resources, as Kenyans are bitter,” said Machigo.
