— Reigning champions Highway Secondary School are once again knocking at the door of greatness after surging into the semi-finals of the KSSSA 2025 National Secondary School Games, fueled by determination, resilience, and a familiar hunger for glory.
The Nairobi-based football giants began their campaign with a tough 3–1 loss to St. Joseph’s Boys, raising early concerns about their title defense. However, the reigning champs were far from finished.
In their second outing, Highway staged a strong comeback, holding Kirangari High of Central to a 3–3 draw in a high-tempo clash that kept their hopes alive. The fight was on—and the boys from Nairobi were just getting started.
Their breakthrough came on Matchday 3, as they dismantled Serani High School from Mombasa with a dominant 3–1 victory. That win sealed their place in the knockout stage and announced Highway’s return to form.
“We started low, but the boys have found their rhythm,” said a Highway team official. “We’re proud of their fighting spirit.”
Up Next: A Familiar Rivalry Rekindled
In a twist straight from a football fairytale, Highway will once again face Musingu High School—the very team they defeated in last year’s national final at Gusii Stadium, where they triumphed 3–2 on penalties to lift the trophy and secure a spot in the ISF World Schools Football Games in Romania.
This highly anticipated rematch is set for Friday, August 1st, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at the Mumias Sports Complex—giving Musingu the home crowd advantage, but also raising the stakes for revenge or repeat.
With Coach Beldine Odemba once again at the helm, Highway will be looking to dig deep, hold their nerve, and edge one step closer to back-to-back national titles.
Will history favor the champions again—or will Musingu rise at home to rewrite their own story?
All roads lead to Mumias this Friday.
