Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) has embarked on high promoting gear for the commodity through holding high level strategic meetings with buyers.

The Chief Executive Officer Willy Mutai said this week held a high profiled meeting with the management of  the Dubai based Jampur Group in Nairobi

Mutai said the board is working round the clock promoting Tea Value Addition to satisfy the expanding market.

Mutai said the renowned firm specialised in the global footprint across Africa, Europe, and Asia—is exploring opportunities to establish modern tea packing infrastructure right here in Kenya.

“This strategic move aligns perfectly with Kenya’s agenda to enhance value addition, create jobs, and increase earnings for tea farmers by ensuring more of our tea is processed and packaged locally before hitting the global market,” said Mutai. Mutai added that the board was forging strategic partnership with various players  eying to facilitate tea export and exploration of new markets.

At the same time, the management of tea factories have been involved in looking for strategic buyers of their tea.

In Murang’a county, KTDA Board member  James Githinji said the management of Ngere tea factory was searching for buyers from all over the world.

Githinji said they are in an aggressive marketing campaign seeking to get better returns  from the expanded market.

“ The farmers at Ngere produce high quality tea, thus we need to explore the market worldwide,” said Gitihinji
