Kiambu DCP youth leader Peter Kinyanjui alias Kawanjiru was picked by the anti terror unit officers at Ruiru law court in a dramatic episode.

Gunshots rent the air as anti-terror squad arrested a suspect after the court released him on Sh500,000 bail with two surities, over claims of burning the Kikuyu police station during last week’s Genzs’ demonstrations.

The anti terror unit moved in the cells and battled with the politician’s supporters within the court’s compound, as they shot in the air, as they whisked him away.

The supporters and the family members pelted the police and the van that ferried Kinyanjui to unknown destination.

Lawyers, and the family condemned the incident and expressed their fears over his safety.

State counsel Duncan Ondimu, earlier had made a miscellaneous application before the Ruiru Chief Magistrate’s court seeking to hold Kinyanjui for 21 days to complete investigations into a case of arson and destruction of administrative buildings in Kikuyu sub county.
