Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to rogue merchants behind the manufacture and distribution of illicit liquor that their days are numbered, as they will not be allowed to continue wreaking havoc on the community.

Speaking in Kigio and Kaguku markets in Gatanga, Murang’a, he said he advocates for the eradication of the illicit liquor to ensure the return of sanity after the illicit brews ravaged the villages.

“ I am asking politicians to keep off interfering with the battle to eradicate the illicit brews as they should be active in ensuring the state development programmes are being implemented.  The police, KRA, and KeB’s handle the merchants to ensure the cheap brews are wiped out of the market,” said Kindiki.

Hde recounted as the former Interior Cabinet Secretary led successful operations against terrorists in Lamu and bandits in Northern Kenya, leaving the regions enjoying lasting peace and normalcy.

DP said he has set his focus fully on wiping the menace of prohibited drinks and drugs out of the country.
“I’m taking this fight personally. I will provide leadership to all the agencies involved including all the security agencies, Kenya Revenue Authority, KeBS, NGAO and the members of the public who we want to play a role in it. This is a battle which we must succeed and we will fully involve wananchi this time around,” DP said.

At Kaguku market, he called for the replacement of a contractor after he failed to complete the proposed market within the set timelines.

Kindiki directed Lands and Housing Cabinet  Alice Wahome to replace the contractor, and ensure the modern market was completed within the shortest time possible for the benefit of the local traders operating in the open.

In the forums,  the parliamentarians  Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Mary Wamaua (Maragua, and Sabina Chege (nominated) outlined Kindiki as the mountain kingpin, saying he has the capacity to take over from President William Ruto in 2032.

They said, as they support the Tutam movement, Kindiki has demonstrated wisdom in the roles appointed by President Ruto to play.

At Kigio,  he inspected the  9 kms Jogoo Kigio- Kirwara road project that had stalled, as Sh 861 million had been set aside after it was launched in 2016.
