The coffee market earned Sh1,303,981,148 after the local and international dealers bought 24,206 bags, as the sector thrives.
Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) report indicates that Kirinyaga slope topped in the marketing of 7,646 bags for Sh 447,381,285, Alliance Berries Limited earned Sh279,395,555.88 after the sale of 5,701 bags, New KPCU 3,040 bags for Sh 178, 158,858, CEBBA 340 bags for Sh19,327,131.
Kangocho factory of Gikanda society achieved the best price of Sh 59,916 per bag of Grade NL marketed by the Alliance Berries Limited.
Other factories that achieved the best prices per bag of Grade AA are Chorongoi Sh54, 080, Winchester Little Sh 55, 247, Ndiaini Sh 56,332.50 per bag, Ruara Sh 56,203 among others.
In the market, the coffee brokers presented 3,534 bags of AA Grade of 18.7 percent and 5,353 of AB Grade 28 percent.
NCE CEO Lipser Ndungāu said there were 16 coffee dealers who participated in the auction, interested in the quality grades.
She said there is need for the farmers to increase production of coffee to satisfy the growing market.
ā The dealers have been visiting the farms through the leadership of the cooperatives, thus need for quality improvement,ā said Ms Ndungāu.
In the dealers category, Ibero Kenya bought 8,339 bags, Louis Dreyfus 5,058 bags, Kenyacof 2,751 bags, C.Dorman 2,583 bags, Taylor Winch 1,951bags, Sasini 1,398 bags among others.
In the NCE report Bekas Systems bought 68 kgs worth Sh 13,933.
