The tea factories under the management of KTDA earned Sh1,342,258,272 following the sale of 4,966,974 kgs at the Mombasa tea auction this week.
In the market analysis, factories in the east of the rift fetched Sh 994. 4 million upon selling 3,007,540 kgs of tea, while those in the west got Sh 347.8 million after selling 1,959,434kgs.
In the report by the East Africa Tea Trade Association (EATTA), factories of Mununga, Gathuthi, Rukuriri, Imenti, Kathangariri, Gitugi, Mungania,and Keigoi got the impressive rate of between Sh382 to Sh341.
Ngere tea factory received the highest payment of Sh 5.1 million after the auction of 160,190 kgs.

The report detailed that Mununga sold 82,360 kgs for Sh 31,4 million, Gathuthi Sh32.6 million for 89,980 kgs, Rukuriri Sh28.9 million for 79,371 kgs.
In the market, the report explained that factories that delivered the largest consignment in the market are Ngere 160,190 kgs, Boito 128,006 kgs, Letein 113,386 kgs, Kimunye 112,896 kgs, and Mungania 100,156 kgs,
The report further divulged that in the weekly auction market, dealers bought 12,324,246 kgs with kenya leading with 9,9994,523kgs, Uganda 1,491,467 kgs, Tanzania 159,020 kgs, rwanda 728,216 kgs, and Burundi 54,820 kgs.

In the dealers category, Global tea bought 22,880 kgs, LAB international 20,000 kgs, KTDA’s Chai Trading 15,080 kgs CoffTea Agencies 10,820 kgs, James Finlay 10,060 kgs among others.
Rio Tana and Agape Tea each bought 40 kgs of the commodities.
In the past three tea auctions this year, the report states that 29,584,128 kgs of tea have been sold through the auction..
