Coffee market. The weekly auction injects Sh1.7 billion

Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) made history after 33,642 bags of coffee traded at Sh1.7 billion, more than Sh957 million of the previous week.

The reports stated that 11 coffee brokers with Alliance Berries Limited leading with the delivery of 15,979 bags, followed by Kirinyaga Slopes 4,506 bags,New KPCU 3,439 bags, KCCE 2,468 bags among others.

Thiririka Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Kiambu, Githembe factory in Kiambu grade AA clinched the best price of Sh53,354. The  produce was brokered by the Alliance Berries Limited.

In the market, other factories that achieved the best prices for their grade AA were Guama Sh52,577, Marumi Sh47,656i, Irugu ini Sh 50,246, Ithanga ini Sh49, 728, Kiamutuira 49,339, and Kaguyu Sh49,857, whose the coffee was brokered by Alliance Berries and Kirinyaga Slopes at the auction.

 Other best performing factories  were Ndaroini, Kevote, Kiruga,Ndiani, Mitondo,Riakiania, Nthimbiti Ntongoro.

 Kigumo MP Joseph Munyoro  celebrated the Sh1.7 billion landmark, saying the production of quality grades of AA and AB was improving.

“Am pleased that several factories in Kigumo, Thanga ini, Marumi, Irugu ini performed excellently at the coffee auction,” said Munyoro. 

NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u  said the auction realised impressive prices across various grades, reaffirming the global demand for the superior quality of Kenyan coffee. 

She explained that the presentation of 26,716 bags of quality grades in the market, is an indication of the growth of the coffee market.

Cooperative PS Patrick Kilemi said the exceptional performance at the NCE is a clear reflection of the transformative efforts being made within Kenya’s coffee sector.

 Mr Kilemi said strengthening cooperative societies and enhancing farmer capacity, will ensure continued excellence in both production and market engagement.

The State Department of Cooperatives, he explained  remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering coffee farmers through policy support, training, and access to resources that enhance productivity and value addition

“ The remarkable prices and market value realized in this auction underscore the resilience and quality of our coffee farmers, cooperatives, and the entire value chain,” said the PS.

 The NCE reports that the coffee brokers presented  quality grades of 11,513 bags of grade AA, and 15,203 of AB  that attracted the local and international dealers.

 In the dealers category C -Dormarn bought  7531 bags, Kenyacof 6,449 bags, Ibero Kenya 6,122,  Taylor Winch 5,476, Sasini 2,875.

 In the category three dealers Kafe Koko, and Kyandu Trading  each bought 22 bags of coffee. 

Other broker’s the report stated deliveries were, CEBB traded 339 bags, Minnesota 1,251 bags, Mt. Elgon 835 bags,United Eastern 1,346 bags,Kinya Coffee 984 bags and Murang’a Coffee 573 bags.
