Court clears path for Prof Kithure Kindiki for the DP position

The Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki is set to be sworn the Deputy President, taking over from the impeached Rigathi Gachagua.

The High Court allowed Kindiki’s swearing after it lifted the conservatory orders.

The three-judge bench, comprising Justices Eric Ogola, Anthony Mrima, and Fridah Mugambi, cited the need to ensure continuity in office.

“The applications for conservatory orders are hereby disallowed. The conservatory orders on October 18, 2024 in Kerugoya High Court are hereby discharged,” ruled Justice Ogola.

Kindiki’s swearing-in was brought to a halt after the High Court in Kerugoya issued an order that barred him from assuming office pending the hearing of a case challenging his appointment.
