Tarmacking of the Kangiciri- Karira Hospital- Ngurubani road in Mwea Constituency is on its final stages.
This section is part of a 65 kilometer transport corridor traversing Kirinyaga Central, Ndia and Mwea Constituencies, the Mutithi-Kagio/Baricho- Getuya-Kagumo-Kiamaina-Gathuthuma-Gatwe/Kimicha-Canal/Ndaba-Kangai-Kandongu- Kangiciri- Karira Hospital- Ngurubani Mosque Road, which is 86% complete, 56 km already blacktop, project to cost Sh3 billion.
This road is part of the 500 kilometres of roads being tarmacked by this administration in Kirinyaga County at a cost of Sh37 billion.
Improvement of the road network will boost the economy of the area.
Already better prices for milk and coffee, and the drastic subsidization of fertiliser, maize seeds and sexed semen prices is boosting productivity in both crop and dairy production, increasing household incomes.
The Government will ensure all rice produced by our farmers at the Mwea Irrigation Scheme will be bought by the Kenya National Trading Corporation to boost national food reserves, before rice is imported into the country.
Inspected road construction works at the Karira Bridge and the Kangiciri- Karira Hospital-Ngurubani Mosque section, satisfied with the progress, commended the contractor for good quality pavement.
