KTDA Holding Chairman Enois Njeru has pleaded with the 880,000 tea farmers to maintain peace amidst challenges facing the tea industry.
Njeru said there was a need for the growers to emphasize the positive outcomes and acknowledge the commitment of leaders, along with the advantages of increased crop yields in the year.
āPoliticizing this essential sector can lead to unrest and losses, detracting from the progress and support farmers truly deserve,āhe said as he pleaded with the growers to foster unity and gratitude.
He said it is important to recognize that not all companies function the same way regarding production volumes, costs, quality, and pricing.
He observed that each factory has its own distinct processes, guided by its articles and memorandum of association, and overseen by its respective boards.
He added that the factory directors work towards establishment of policies that govern their operations as farmers refrain from actions that could jeopardize their companies due to misguided motives or incitement.
āThis year has been the most successful since the tea industry began. Monthly pay has increased by Ksh. 4 since January, and bonus rates for various factories have significantly improved compared to previous years. Let us take a moment to express our gratitude to God for these blessings,ā said the KTDA Chairman.
