Chief Justice calls for the reinstatement of Justice Mugambi’s security

Chief Justice Martha Koome has demanded that the National Police Service (NPS) to immediately reinstate the security of Justice Lawrence Mugambi.

The judge’s security details was withdrawn at the weekend days after he sentenced the Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to six months in prison for contempt of court.

The CJ raised concerns over the alleged withdrawal saying the issue is one of the many others giving her sleepless nights.

In a press briefing in Nairobi, the CJ who chairs the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) strongly condemned the act of intimidation.

She assured Kenyans that the judiciary will stand firm no matter to defend the constitution.
