After decades of waiting on the implementation of the removal of asbestos roof in Kenya, a new sheriff in the environmental docket has issued an order.
Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has ordered the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to ensure the asbestos roofs are removed in public buildings in three months.
Duale said the asbestos roofing must be removed from schools and private facilities with immediate effect following increased public health concerns.
