Collaboration between the National Lands Commission (NLC) and Laikipia County Government has bore fruit with the processing of 741 allotment letters for land owners in Likii informal settlement in Nanyuki town.
Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu said processing of the crucial document is the last phase before the issuance of the title deeds that will give the land owners the dignity that his administration promised.
spoke at the NLC offices when he received the allotment letters saying the long journey of securing the title deeds for plot owners at the Likii informal settlement scheme in Nanyuki town entered the final phase.
āAllotment letters which I will soon issue to individual plot owners is the last stage to issuance of title deeds,ā said the governor.
He added that granting security of tenure by issuance of title deeds to plot owners in informal settlement schemes in Nanyuki, Nyahururu, and Rumuruti was a key election manifesto promise I made to Laikipians.
āThis remarkable progress achieved will accelerate the overall economic development of Nanyuki town by giving confidence of security of ownership,ā said the governor who was accompanied by Lands CEC Martin Ekwam.
The NLC Chairman Mr Gershom Otachi highlighted the importance of the regularization process in ensuring that all Kenyans have access to secure land tenure.
Otachi commended the collaboration between the NLC and the Laikipia County Government as a testament to the commitment of both institutions to resolving land disputes and promoting sustainable urban development.
