Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja had a taste of public anger

Hell broke loose for Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja after he was stoned in Toi market by angry Kibera residents.

The Governor was touring the market following death of four people after a mysterious fire that burnt several business premises and houses.

As Sakaja was in a visit of the market to witness destruction of property estimated at millions of shillings, hell broke loose when angry mob pelted him with stones, before his security detail formed a shield and whisked him away.

During his visit to the market, Governor Sakaja had promised to utilize the county disaster funds to compensate affected traders.

Later, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna revealed that four people had lost their lives in the tragedy.

“As the leadership in Nairobi, we stand with you and will do our best not only to help restore your businesses but to make sure we put an end to these incessant fires in our markets,” said Sifuna.
