A relief to expectant mothers in Kambiti ward after a maternity project has been completed.
Mihang’o maternity programme by Murang’a County Government will save expectant mothers from traveling long distances to Murang’a, Maragua and Makuyu hospitals for deliveries.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata commissioned the project saying in the past expectant mothers suffered as they sought for delivery services in the public health facilities.
The Governor said the project will help to ensure the mother access safe deliveries as the county government was designed to provide care to all within reach.
“ The number of health workers will be increased in the health centres to ensure there is improved service delivery,” said Kang’ata
On water connectivity, the governor said the health facility will be connected to a borehole to ease the challenge.
Launching a water project in the Kamahuha ward, he said hundreds of households will be connected to clean water adding that Maragua had the lowest connectivity.
“The county government will work with Murang’a Water and Sanitation Company to distribute water to local homesteads,” said the governor.
