Police to continue grilling health workers implicated in drug theft

Four suspects suspected in theft of drugs at Murang’a Level Five Hospital will spend 14 days in custody undergoing interrogation.
The suspects, Antony Ng’ang’a, Annie Nyambura, Fridah Wangechi and Linus Muriithi were ordered to undergo further grilling connected to the Friday night incident where the police recovered drugs suspected to have been stolen from the county referral Hospital. 

Insiders revealed that the drugs were destined to private chemists at Kagio and Kenol markets.
Murang’a Senior Resident Magistrate Eric Musambai ruled that the suspect be detained at Murang’a police station until March 13.
“The suspects will be detained for 14 days to enable the investigator complete investigations,”ruled the Magistrate.

The suspects three employees at the health facility had sought to be released on bond arguing they will be available when needed by the investigating officer.
On Friday, after a tip off Ng’ang’a was intercepted by police and upon search non pharmaceutical drugs were discovered.
He led the police to his accomplices before they were bundled in police cells.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata lauded the police for arresting the suspects following a tip off.
“In the past three years the theft of drugs has been the order of the day but the activity will stop,”said the Governor.
Leaders who included deputy Governor Stephen Munania and County assembly Speaker Johnson Mukuha described the incident as uncalled for.
” We are calling for the suspects to face the wrath of the law to serve as a warning to others,” said Mukuha.
