Two busy markets in Gatanga, Murang’a have been put on surveillance over high infection that have resulted in deaths.
Radical measures taken to stop the spread of the killer disease are closure of liquor outlets and establishing of more hand washing points.
In a notice to the Gatanga security committee, Murang’a Health and Sanitation CEC Joseph Mbai ordered the closure of bars, and operators of eateries to adhere to Covid 19 protocols.
The churches, he said, should observe the one third rules as a measure to curb the spread of the disease.
“ We have to deal with the situation before it goes out of hand,” said Mr Mbai when he spoke to The Mountain Journal.
He said there is a need to ensure all people must wear face masks as directed by the Ministry of Health.
The drastic measures were taken when several people from the two villages were placed under isolation, three in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
