After 2017 I kept off politics  to allow Governor Mwangi wa Iria do his part

Former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau declared to run for the governorship slot as he called on youth against being lured to cause violence.

Kamau said if elected his administration will deal with unemployment in youth and support projects started by Governor Mwangi wa Iria.

Iria is a great man for having established a vibrant dairy programme that has transformed the rural economy.

“ The projects by the government rest assured they will be supported to completion,” said Kamau.

In Education, he said he will launch a Murang’a County Endowment Programme that will ensure all the students from the area will have access to secondary education.

“ In my time in Kigumo constituency,  we had an elaborate programme that supported the students from humble backgrounds  to pursue education in secondary schools and colleges,” said Kamau who served between 2007 and 2017.

He said agriculture being the economic background of Murang’a, he will work towards establishment of avocado processing plant after Iria distributed more than 2.5 million avocado seedlings to the farmers.

On youth programmes, he said his administration tackled unemployment  after many of the youth were affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.

On water issues, Kamau said President Uhuru Kenyatta should take credit for allocating millions of shillings in the county to facilitate distribution of water not individuals.

“ Why are Murang’a people exposed to using water sourced from the bore holes while Nairobians  enjoy our resources. We shall work together and tap water from the Aberdare forests  for our people,” said Kamau.

Also eying the slot is Murang’a MP Sabina Chege,  Water Principal Secretary Joseph Wairagu and Tea Sector Lobby Chairman Irungu Nyakera.
