Am ready to steer Murang’a for great heights, says Kamau
By The Mountain Journal
Murang’a Gubernatorial
slot has attracted performers and non-performers.
Leading in the list is
former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau whose tenure as Minister for Nairobi
Metropolitan is being celebrated by the residents.
Others in the list campaigning
for the slot upon exit of Governor Mwangi wa Iria are Water and Irrigation
Principal Secretary Joseph Wairagu, MP Sabina Chege, Tea Lobby Sector Chairman
Irungu Nyakera, former Kandara MP Joshua Toro and Dr Moses Mwangi.
Kamau who is the front
runner for the slot enjoys massive backing from the youth and professionals
following the legacy he left behind when he served in the Cabinet.
“Am in the race and am
seeking support from every resident of the great Murang’a County as I have the
capacity and wisdom to steer it to great heights,” said Kamau when reached for
comments.
John Mwangi a resident of Gatanga says Kamau is
a unique candidate as during his tenure in the retired President Mwai Kibaki’s
cabinet made sure Murang’a was included in the vast
Nairobi Metropolitan zone.
Murang’a unlike other
counties, he said, has fire stations done by the Metropolitan, improved street
lighting which have played a significant role in uplifting security standards.
“Kenol is one of the
upcoming model cities as the metropolitan has a design to ensure it will be improved
and construction of an airstrip,” said Mwangi.
Jane Mwai from Kandara
constituency says water being connected in lower parts of Murang’a is one of the
projects facilitated by the national government.
“Alot development
being implemented was designed long ago and it is time to appreciate those who
had interest in Murang’a in those years,” said Mwai.
Mwai says Kamau, despite the increased
popularity, should get a female running mate from the northern side.
“
It is always fair to consider all the
parts of the county when handling the administration matters,” said Ms Mwai.
