Residents of
Murang’a town were treated to a drama after rival political groupings faced each
other.
General
Ihura stadium was turned into a political battle
ground when rival camps on the BBI clashed.
Camp allied to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and
senator Irungu Kang’ata way laid the pro BBI supporters at the entrance of
Ihura stadium before they encountered
them before the chaos erupted.
The Pro BBI camp led by MCA Stephen Habire and political activist James Mwangi
returned to the grounds and held their meeting with a warning to the MP not to
mislead Kenyans that Murang’a people were against the constitutional amendment.
“ Murang’a
people are behind the constitutional reforms as there will be more gains and
including creation of a new
constituency,’ said Mwangi.
The MCA said they were peaceful, blaming the
camp allied to the MP for causing the chaos.
“ Nyoro and
Kang’ata embrassed the county as the entire leaders was behind the BBI,” said Habire. Nyoro team said they would not allow the MP from being attacked yet he was undertaking his responsibility in parliament.
The police were forced to disperse an illegal
gathering outside the Ihura grounds that was allegedly interested in causing
chaos.
