Chinga farmers ready to uproot ‘Mugumo’

 Tea farmers at Chinga tea factory have turned up in large numbers to elect new directors to replace the board of directors led by Peter Kanyago.

 The farmers defied orders by the troubled KTDA  to ignore the election. Instead the farmers  said they are duty bound to participate in the national event that will give them relief after two decades of suffering.
 The farmers at Chinga tea factory moves in the election a week after their colleagues at Kiru tea factory in Murang’a elected lawyer Chege Kirundi  as they new chairman.
Tea Sector Lobby Group Chairman Irungu Nyakera is among hundreds of activities who have been championing  reform in the tea sector.
Nyakera a former Principal Secretary said the farmers have been exploited  for long thus need to bring change.
” We are supporting government reform agenda  to end suffering the farmers have been going through,” said Nyakera.
