Twenty seven year old Haron Kinyua is the latest entrant to contest
the Nairobi Governorship slots where the mighty have declared interest.
The seat that was left vacant after
Mike Mbuvi Sonko was impeached has attracted several candidates despite the
High Court Order to IEBC to suspend the process for conducting a By Election
following a petition.
Kinyua has been cleared to run on Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria Civic Renewal Party (CRP).
IEBC had written to the political parties fixing the by election date on February 14.
Others interested to replace Sonko
are businessperson Agnes Kagure, former
MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti) Margaret Wanjiru( Starehe). Former Kiambu Governors
William Kabogo and Ferdindard Waititu Ndung’u have shown interest in Nairobis county politics.
Kabogo was defeated by Waititu in 2017.
Waititu lost control of Kiambu county after he was impeached by the county
assembly.
The youthful candidate, a highway engineer by
profession has attracted support of the young and majority being university
students .
They are following their own effective leadership to enable the city reclaim its former glory.
In the contest, ODM is working to produce a deputy governor after an agreement that Jubilee Party will produce a candidate for the governorship position.
