Jubilee Party failed
to reclaim Gaturi Ward seat during the just concluded By Election.
Instead People’s
Empowerment Party affiliated to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria pulled a surprise after
Esther Mwihaki Kamau garnered 3,974 votes, to defeat Jubilee Party candidate
RoseMary Wakuthii polled 3,423 votes.
Last week politicians led
by Governor Mwangi wa Iria, Senator Irungu Kang’ata campaigned by the Jubilee
Party, as Gatundu South MP declared he was ready to pull a surprise.
Kuria describes the win as the end of the
Jubilee Party that has failed as
expected.
In the results
declared by Kiharu IEBC Returning Officer Faith Mugo, Mwihaki was declared the
winner and issued with a certificate to represent Gaturi interest at Murang’a
County Assembly.
In the election, Zablon Mwangi of Narc Kenya garnered
1,024 votes,Jacob Murira of The Young Democratic 235, John Muchoki Maendeleo
Chap Chap 165, Simon Njogu of United Green Movement 130.
Others were the University of
Nairobi first-year student Kelvin Maina under Party of Economic Development 73,
Nelson Kenda of Democratic Party 43 and Chris Kimuhu of National Ordinary
People’s Party garnered 21 votes.
