D DAY at Gaturi as voters elect their ward rep

Gaturi by-election was
marred by the low turnout as the candidates facilitated transport.

In the centres
visited, The Mountain Journal established that less than 50 percent of the voters
turned up.

 IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati made a surprise
visit at Gaturi and Githundi polling stations.

 Jubilee Party candidate Rosemary Wakuthie and
People Economic Party candidate Esther Mwihaki 
who are the leading  mobilized their
supporters to turn up.

 At the same time, the Jubilee Party sent its
monitors of the ground to check the voting process.

 At Gaitheri primary school, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro
voted and appealed for calm, saying he will work with any of the candidates who
will be declared the winner.

“ All the candidates  are
capable  to win as they have grass root
networks” said Nyoro.

Maendeleo Chap Chap Candidate Muchoki Mbuthia maintained he will
win the seat, as he appealed to IEBC  to
ensure there will be fair play  to all
candidates.
