Mission by the provincial administration to assist in collection of signatures in support of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has won praise.
The mission by the chiefs led by Murang’a County Commissioner Mohammed Barre has won praise with collection of more than enough signatures to back government initiative to amend the constitution.
The County collected 166,390 signatures and ranked the second in Central Kenya region after Kiambu that managed 181,744.

In the list presented to the BBI Regional Coordinating Team led by former Mathira MP Peter Weru, Gatanga constituency collected 41,269 signatures to back the process.
Kangema collected 21,784, Murang’a East 22,460, Kandara 21,000 and Maragua 22,000.
Gatanga MP Joseph Ngugi Nduati said there were combined efforts by leaders to support the initiative started by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Ngugi said the peace prevailing in the country followed the Handshake between the two national leaders, thus the need for all Kenyans to support it.
” Gatanga is vast but through determination of leaders at all levels and the same will be demonstrated during the national referendum next year,” said the MP.
Gatanga is also home to the respected former Gatanga MPs David Murathe and Peter Kenneth.
In the Central region the signatures collected 643,889, the break down as as follows
