Pact between Laikipia and Nyeri set to kick off

A Joint Intercounty Governments Relations  Committee between Laikipia and Nyeri County Governments has been gazetted.

 The intercounty relation committee  will have  10 members drawn from the two neighbouring  counties.

 The committee charged with cominmg up  with  development strategies  at the border market centres. 

The team will be headed by County Secretaries Karanja Njora( Laikipia) and Benjamin Gachichio( Nyeri).

 The gazette Notice signed by Governors Ndiritu Muriithi( Laikipia) and Mutahi Kahiga( Nyeri) followed a Memorandum of Understanding entered on October 18 in Nyeri town.

 The members of the committee that will oversee joint planning of the market centres along the border line,  are county executive members  for Trade, Finance,  lands and county attorneys.

The team will embark on joint planning of  market centres like Mweiga, Ngatho, Ichuga near Nanyuki town among others that  falls near the border of the counties.

Njora said  some areas in Nyeri county are close to Laikipia thus need for a joint pact in implementing development programmes.
