KANJAHI residents in Mathioya have established a network to empower teenage
girls, equipping them with menstrual education.
Over Kanjahi 100 girls,
through Mwangi Kifeti Foundation got tips career choice, personal hygiene among
others.

The foundation brought together young girls in secondary and
colleges, where they also got sanitary pads donated by well-wishers.
It is among several foundations initiated by the professionals in
Murang’a to give back to the society, through assistance to teenagers who have
remained at home for months following the Covid 19 pandemic.
Led by Bancy Nduta, the organisers of the event recounted how the
girls in the villages have suffered due to lack of sanitary towels among
other necessities.
“We have heard horror stories from the girls how they are lured into
sex by elderly men with the promise they will be assisted with sanitary pads,”
said Nduta.
Mwangi of his part said he was supported by well-wishers to
organize the event that brother together teachers to guide the young ones.
“Let it be noted that is its responsibility to support the young ones
where possible. The parents have all the rights to be monitoring the movement
of their children,” he said.
Mwangi a seminar for boys is being planned in two weeks at Kanjahi primary school.
