Kigumo: Where police are exposed to cold at night

Police at Kigumo Police Station
in Murang’a, have continued living in pathetic houses constructed in 1950’s by
the colonial administrations.

A housing project which was to
relief them  from living in dilapidated structures remains a mirage after
it stalled due to funding.

Two years ago, Interior and
National Coordination Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i ordered the construction
of the decent houses for the officers, before the allocation, was returned to
The National Treasury at the end of the financial year.

 Deputy Inspector General
of Police Edward Mbugua  toured the project, and ordered it be completed
in two months to provide the officers with better shelter.

Mbugua sympathized with the
policemen attached at the facility and assured them  all  will be
done to ensure they relocate to decent quarters.

“ Am giving my personal
donation of Sh200,000 to fast track the project,” said Mbugua requesting local
leadership to support security projects.

 He was accompanied by
Kigumo MP Wangari Mwaniki and Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua.

 Wangari said  Kigumo
CDF will partner  with the NPS to improve the status of the police
facilities.

“Kigumo we need two additional
police stations at Mugumo and  Githima,” said The MP.

Kangari she said was gazetted
to a police station but a lot is required to give the former police post a
facelift.
