Laikipia: Enjoy as traders get allotiment letters

Hundreds of small scale traders within
Rumuruti town, Laikipia have received allotment letters to develop
their market stalls.

The traders have been given specifications
of the type of stalls they are going to put up in line with the County’s Smart
Town programme.

According to the County’s CEC in
charge of Public Administration Rose Maitai,   the issuance of the crucial document ends a
three years wait. She said they have the chance to develop their plots.

She noted that the decision to award
the allotments was reached out after a keen scrutiny of the beneficiaries to
avert incidences of double allocations and also to ensure they were awarded on
merit.

“We have identified the most needy
persons who have gone through serious vetting. We now want them to start buiding
them in a manner that we have directed them,” she said.

Speaking during a ceremony to give
out the letters in Rumuruti town, Maitai and Rumuruti Township MCA Joseph
Suge, urged the traders to ensure they develop their stalls within the
stipulate time of one year, failure to which they will be re-allocated.

They challenged them to use the
opportunity make meaningful business that aligns with the town’s standards of
the new county headquarters.

The beneficiaries praised the move
saying it was long overdue.

“This is like a dream come true for
me. I will now develop it and start a small business,” said Jane Njeri.

They observed that they will now go
on with their business activities without worry and uncertainties.
