Ahadi
Trust Executive Director Stanley Kamau has come to the rescue of the frustrated
teachers following termination of their services.
The
teachers in Mathioya highlighted to Kamau their plight after their employers in
primary and secondary schools stopped remitting salaries after the outbreak of
Covid 19.
The
teachers recounted their suffering to the Ahadi Kenya boss, saying they are
ridiculed in the villages when they got manual jobs to support their families.
Kamau
heard that even parents whose children are taught by the teachers in the
private schools are among the villagers ridiculing them when they
ask for jobs to sustain their families.
Speaking
at Njumbi ACK Church, Kamau said there was need to support the teachers as they
have devoted themselves to educate their children.
He said
those laughing at teachers when they are doing manual jobs should be serious
with life.
“Ahadi
will partner with other people with interest to help the teachers to start
income generating projects to sustain them as a group,” said Kamau as he
donated food stuff.
In the past two month, The Mountain Journal has learnt that hundreds of
teachers are engaged in manual jobs like masonry, carpentry, green leaf
plucking among others to support their families.
