An influential Jubilee Party operative in Murang’a has crossed
over to Musalia Mudavadi led Amani National Congress (ANC).
Lawyer Simon Gikuru disclosed his defection to ANC, saying
Mudavadi has a better chance of getting presidential votes owing to his long
political experience and sobriety.
In a statement, Gikuru said he crossed over to assist the able
leader to penetrate Mt Kenya region in
search of votes.
Gikuru announced his defection to ANC to join hands with Mudavadi
in efforts to penetrate Mt Kenya region ahead of 2022 General Election.
The Makerere university trained lawyer said he has been involved in putting
structures for ANC within Mt Kenya region to build the party.
“ANC leader’s sobriety, track record and experience in governance
puts him ahead of all politicians interested in the presidency,” said Gikuru.
During his tenure as
Chairman of Murang’a Branch, he led to
securing all the elective positions for
MPs.
“ It is only at the county assembly three slot went outside Jubilee party,” he told The Mountain Journal.
He said he walked out of the Jubilee party a while ago, following unending political wrangles.
After the election, Murang’a Branch voted out Gikuru and replaced
him with a long serving civic leader Francis Muheria.
