Senate Majority whip Irungu Kang’ata
has said the senate will on Tuesday
endorse a proposal by the Commission on Revenue
for the interest of the country.
The senator said the proposal
will be deliberated in the senate for the last chance in the assembly .
failure to which Mt Kenya region to reconsider their stand of Building Bridges
Initiative (BBI).
Mt Kenya region will get an additional Sh3.1 billion if the
proposal is endorsed by the assembly.
Speaking at Kiamara village in Kangema during distribution of relief
food to the needy persons, Kang’ata said counties in
Nyanza, Coast and Northern Kenya were rejecting the proposal which has been factored in the BBI.
He said the BBI the leaders purport to
support calls, for sharing of the
resources based on population and not geographical area.
“If you support BBI you should also be part of
the proposal on the revenue sharing formula, if there is no sinister motive,”
he said.
