Mt Kenya leaders worked day and night towards the delivery of enough signatures in support of BBI process.
There have been are parallel
groups holding meetings across the counties, educating people on the need
to support the government initiative on the constitution reform.
The chiefs under
command of county commissioners has been tasked with the responsibility to spearhead collection of signatures to comply with IEBC directives, for preparation of a national referendum.
In Murang’a, the provincial
administration under County Commissioner Mohammed Barre has collected signatures.
They have received
support from Governor Mwangi wa Iria who mobilised a fleet of vehicles to speed
up the process to meet the deadline.
Governor wa Iria said
he will use community workers to reach all the people.
Iria who has signaled
to contest the Presidency Civic Renewal Party (CRP) in 2022 said it was
important for the Kenyans to support the constitutional process.
In Laikipia, Deputy
Government John Mwaniki has transverse Laikipia County mobilising locals to
append their signatures in support of BBI.
In Kalalu area in
Umande ward, Laikipia East Constituency, more than 500 people appended their signatures, after Mwaniki
address.
” Te reforms that will be brought by BBI will assist
the counties to receive more funds to facilitate development that will match with peoples expectations.
We have been left with
a billion shilling for development which is too little for a vast area,” said
Mwaniki.
Laikipia Jubilee Party
Chairman Mr Thomas Gachara said they have been able to collect enough
signatures to support President Uhuru Kenyatta agenda.
“We have managed
to get enough signatures from the willing people in Laikipia county, ” said
Gachara.
The Service Party Leader Mwangi Kiunjuri
has moved to back the BBI, despite his past opposition.
